Movie review: The Holiday

The Holiday. Yay, a romantic comedy. And, well, a decent one at that. I’ll admit that my major reason for seeing this movie was Shannyn Sossamon . in a minor part, but, well, it kind of worked. Except for a couple of things. The big one? Cameron Diaz can’t act. At all. The only movies where her casting has been palpable has been the kind of movies where she only was eye-candy (The Mask, There’s Something About Mary) but as soon as she starts to (tries to) act, it all falls apart. Oh, yeah, she doesn’t work as eye-candy either. The major problem, however, was the length of the movie. It goes on FOR EVER. It is 2 hours and 20 minutes long. So, it goes around in a slow, slow, pace, mostly centered around a hysterical Diaz, and it never, ever, seems to end. It is, however, kind of “romantic”, and you do get a lot of minutes for the money.

Verdict: Don’t see.

I kind of liked it, even though it was a rather predictable chick flick. Cameron and Kate make for differing eye candy.
