Movie Review: The Contract

The Contract is a movie about hit-men. So, yes, that could be argument enough. Of course it’s going to be good :)
It has a couple of neat touches, since it’s like a “rough outdoors thriller”, and has John Cusack (who played a hit-man in Grosse Pointe Blank) playing the unwilling hero. Morgan Freeman plays the gentle old serial killer who has ha heart. And there are some younger hit-men out there who don’t really play nice. And conspiracies. You know, the usual stuff. Well played, and rather a good flick.
Verdict: See

I’d give it more that a just see, rather a must see. Great action, plot reversals, subtle father/son interaction and of course two great lead stars, Cusack and Freeman. Much better writing than most action thrillers. Probably not given the heavy Hollywood promotion to create a buzz and not seen much in release as of yet.

loose ends – why the secrecy the female FBI agent is displaying – always ending her phone call when the younger FBI agent approaches – why can’t Frank be allowed to come back to DC – something not being told here

This movie was interesting for the most part. The prpblem, it had no ending. SPOILER ALERT !!! It ended the way it could have ended after the ftrst half hour. Just let him go and go back to your lives. But they struggle though the wilderness, fight for thier lives, get an innocent guy killed, and then let him go anyway. So what was the point! Even at the end when the contract was stopped , you hear on the radio that they killed him later anyway.
So nothing changed, he escaped and finished the contract. That could have been done in 20 minutes, but then we’d have no movie. Disappointing ending.
